Handmade bottle open from Handmade Tyneside
Everything I make is from reclaimed or recycled materials, mostly wood, that I have salvaged or bought from in and around my home town in Tyne and Wear.
These bottle openers are made from the counter top of a bar from an Ex-Servicemen’s Club in Gateshead known as The Bombers. I was able to salvage the bar top, the staging and the dance floor from this historic centre of community in Gateshead. I liked the idea of making something that was sympathetic to the original use of the wood, from bar to bottle opener!
The wood was stripped back, hand cut, sanded and then finished with a dark wax. Each bottle opener contains a small neodymium magnet which sticks to the bottle cap when opening, and another on the top so you can stick it to your fridge - handy!
All Handmade Tyneside products are handmade entirely from reclaimed or salvaged wood, using traditional carpentry and wood-shop techniques. This means each item is unique and therefore products may vary slightly, to those shown.
